An open casting on CastHub is a listing with a title, a description, the roles wanted, shoot dates, an application deadline and a pay note. Applying is free, and only talent accounts can do it.
What applying makes visible
When you apply, your full card — measurements, sizes and portfolio — opens to that company, and to that company only. It does not open to the public and it does not open to other companies. This is the single most important thing to understand before you press the button: applying is a consent step.
The five states
1. Applied
Your application reached the company. Nothing else has happened yet. The company can see you in its applicant list; other applicants cannot see each other, and the list is never public.
2. Shortlisted
You are on the shortlist for this job. It is a real signal — the company kept you after a first pass — but it is not a booking.
3. Invited
The company invited you. Check your messages: an invitation usually comes with details about the audition or the shoot.
4. Selected
You got the job. From here, everything — fee, schedule, contract — is agreed directly between you and the company. CastHub does not handle payments and takes no commission.
5. Not selected
It did not work out this time. Your profile stays visible for other castings, and nothing about a rejection is shown publicly.
Writing a note that helps
You can add a short message to the company when you apply. The useful version is specific: why you fit this role, what relevant work you have done, and whether you are available on the shoot dates. The unhelpful version is a paragraph about how much you want it.
Before you apply
- Check the shoot dates against your calendar before applying, not after.
- Make sure your measurements are current — an old number costs you the job at the fitting, not before it.
- Read the pay note. It is free text written by the company; if it is unclear, ask in your message.
- Look at whether the company is verified.
If you are the company
Keep statuses moving. A talent who is left on applied for weeks has no way to know whether to hold the dates. Updating a status takes one click and is the difference between a pool that answers you next time and one that does not.
